Most unwanted at Central Jail! He's a prisoner from Pak
Jodhpur: He is a 'Pak Bandi' (Pakistani prisoner) and 'Putra Namaloom' (son of unknown). Lodged at the Central Jail in Jodhpur, Zuhoor Ahmed claims to be from Pakistan and wants to return to his hometown. What's interesting is that jail authorities also want to send him back, and have let him free several times. But the catch is that every time he is released, he gets arrested again as he doesn't go anywhere and is found loitering around in the area. The police arrest him under Section 109 and 151 (arrest to prevent the commission of cognizable offence) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).The saga has been on since almost one-and-a-half years, he is released and then again taken back into custody. Interestingly, he has never been booked under Passport Act or other relevant sections of illegal border crossing, etc.As per official records, Zuhoor is Muslim from Pakistan, resident of Chak 21 (Urdu word for village) from Vehari district in Punjab province of Pakistan.Jail officials say Zuhoor looks like in his 40s and divulges very little and vaguely about his family. They say repeated requests for Zuhoor's repatriation have been sent to the district magistrate's office here, but to no avail.
'Zuhoor was first held for loitering near rly stn'contPerhaps the reason for this is that he has not been claimed by the Pakistani government.Zuhoor was first arrested loitering near the railway station here and sent to jail on June 3, 2014. He was released on December 5, 2014. He was then arrested on December 6, 2014 (just a day after his release) and released on June 5, 2015, only to be arrested yet again on June 6, 2015, for another six months. Jail officials say his case is not taken up, the cycle shall continue.Jail officials say Zuhoor doesn't trouble anybody and keeps to himself. "In rare good moods, he sings qawwalis to entertain everyone," jail superintendent Vikram Singh Singh told TOI, adding that the police cannot let him roam around idly and so he has to be arrested time and again.
